In the spirit of sharing during the festive period, the Western region team felt inspired to do justice to the notion of “sharing”.
On Christmas Day, after feverish preparation the night before, the team distributed about 300 gifts to hundreds of street children in the Durban and surrounding areas. Further, hot meals were served, and relished by these forgotten children. It was heartwarming to see how appreciative the underprivileged children were to receive simple toys and a nourishing meal. Vrindavan Chandra, the Chairperson for Food for Life SA and other team members spent several hours preparing for the distribution.
The enthusiastic Western region team experienced a humbling sense of joy to see so many excited children and this has impelled us to support Food for Life SA to expand on this feeding project annually. We hope to enlist more volunteers and sponsors. We are a emergent and fledgling hunger free zone, and it is our sincere appeal to enable growth and development of the Western region FFLSA.

It is with great delight that we announce the completion of a wonderful Food for Life (Western Region) endeavor on 31 October 2013 at New Germany Primary school.
The school showcases a very strong representation of both learners and educators across all races. We received considerable praise and appreciation from the recipients who enjoyed a nourishing warm meal. We would like to record our gratitude to Janet Burges from Clover for the generous sponsorship of the refreshing juices as well as all the volunteers that helped to enable a successful feeding event.
