On Saturday, 14th May, FOOD FOR LIFE TONGAAT (FFLT) held its second BIG FEED – 36 pots of breyani was cooked and 9000 plates of food was distributed on the day.
The 9000 plates of food were distributed to the following areas in Tongaat:

Genazana Road (informal Settlement)
Lungalani and Phulani Informal Settlements
CBD: Truro Gardens
Outside Municipal Building
Taxi Rank
Arbee Drive (outside Bhagwans)
South Sector: Gwala’s Farm including Makeni
Zone 5 Flats
Rajkumars including Dennis Heights
Flamingo Heights Train Station and SD Flats
North Sector: Emona Fire-tower
Burbreeze

FFLT’s vision is for a hunger-free Tongaat and this event will help us in achieving our goals including declaring all schools in Tongaat hunger-free – a “stronger youth for a brighter tomorrow”.
FFLT has a great philosophy where sponsors can not only sponsor cash or the ingredients for a pot of breyani, but can also physically cook the pot of food sponsored and also help with the distribution of food. This makes the whole experience of “giving” more rewarding, satisfying and complete. Further, for as little as R3 per day you can “adopt” a child and ensure that the child has a plate of food daily.
FFLT is part of Food for Life South Africa (FFLSA), which, is affiliated to Food For Life Global. FOOD FOR LIFE is a non-sectarian and non-discriminating organization that respects all religions and cultural traditions and has volunteers from all religious and racial backgrounds who are involved in feeding programs all over the world.
FFLT vision is a hunger free Tongaat and our plan for 2016 is as follows:
• Target 4 big feeds a year (Quarterly).
• Monthly Plan: 8 pots. We will cook every Saturday – 2 pots. 2 Pots for school feeds. We want to feed all schools in Tongaat by end of 2016.
