FOOD FOR LIFE CAPE TOWN TO HOST 3rd EYE CLINIC

Food for Life Cape Town is committed to uplifting AND empowering our communities….not just by distributing hot, nutritious meals for free to those in need. Last year we held a free eye clinic in partnership with VisionSpring (Global NGO) and Northeastern University (Boston, USA).

On Saturday the 3rd March 2018, at Tafelsig High’s school hall in Mitchells Plain, we will again be offering free eye-tests to adults over the age of 35. Members of public with specific eye disorders (presbyopia, similar to far-sightedness) will be able to purchase a pair of subsidised, high-quality eyeglasses for a nominal cost of only R30. The test is free, and Food for Life will also serve a free, hot, delicious meal to those present around lunch time.

We also require 60 volunteers to conduct the basic eye tests using charts. The volunteers would need to be available for training in Mitchells Plain (either Saturday morning 24th March or Saturday morning 3rd March, before the eye clinic begins) for approximately 3 hours (time to be finalised in due course), and on the day of the eye clinic, Saturday 3rd March from about 8-4pm. We will also provide a delicious lunch and snacks for volunteers on the day of the eye clinic. Please kindly contact us via e-mail (foodforlifecapetown@gmail.com) to assist – we promise this will be a fun and wholesome, enriching experience.
